# Terms of service

> These terms cover your use of geolith cloud (api.geolith.app and console.geolith.app). In short: use the API within your plan, show the OpenStreetMap and Overture attribution, keep your secret keys secret, and you may store the results you receive.

Last updated: 2026-10-22

## Plans and quotas

Each plan includes a number of requests per calendar month. When you reach it, the API answers HTTP 429 quota_exceeded until the month ends or you move to a larger plan. We do not charge overage.

Paid plans are arranged by email at contact@geolith.app until card checkout is live.

## Attribution

Wherever you display results or map tiles, show: "© OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), Overture Maps Foundation". See the attribution page for details.

## Storing results

You may store the results you receive permanently and use them in your products. OpenStreetMap data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL); if you publish a substantial extract as a database, its share-alike terms apply to that database.

## Acceptable use

Do not:

- share secret keys or ship them in front-end code;
- try to get around quotas, rate limits or origin checks;
- use the API to download the underlying database wholesale;
- use the service for anything unlawful.

## Availability and liability

We work to keep the service fast and available but do not guarantee it is uninterrupted or error-free. Geocoding results come from open data and can be wrong; check them before you rely on them for anything critical. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the three months before a claim.

## Changes

We may change these terms. We will email account holders about material changes before they take effect.
